AMC Frees Prisoner!

Following on from my recent article about the sad loss of Patrick McGoohan, I've learned that AMC has made the entire 1967 series The Prisoner available for free streaming viewing online. AMC is behind the remake of the series starring Sir Ian McKellen. There's also lots of interesting information about the classic and new series.

I shelled out the 60 dollars for the whole set of The Prisoner and I don't regret it a bit. But now that it's available online, more people will watch it! Can't wait to see how they're going to remake this series. So much of the charm was in the low budget and in McGoohan.

Would never have discovered the series or the city of Portmeirion if it weren't for you!

Alison - I'm also eager to see what people will say about The Prisoner, now it's freely available (at least for the moment).

I'll be watching it in its entirety again. It's been a long time since I saw it, and I'm not even sure I saw every episode.

I do agree that part of the charm of the show was its low-budget look and feel. I'm sure you know that "Rover" the giant balloon that captures people who try to escape, was originally going to be a robotic device. They built it, but couldn't get it to work reliably, so they resorted to a weather balloon!

I'm glad you enjoyed discovering The Prisoner. Now I've got to get you watching Doctor Who!
